5 week project that I made for my Diploma of Animation and Digital Video.
The idea cames from sci fi movies such Sunshine and Solaris. And I always wishing modeling a space station.
I spend 3 week modeling, and 1 week texturizing and a week of setting camera/light/render. I used Maya and PH and this is mental ray.
STARGAZING BREAKDOWN
Diffuse Map + AO + Color correction.
3.5kk polygons.
The main goal for me was achieving a photorealistic level of textures, lights and details. For that, I used Mental Ray shaders and production render quality.
To increase overall quality I also used
Ambient Occlusion map.
For believable light and compose I used image based light set and also AO light.
Living module.
For a solar modules I used solar plates' c maps and reflection layers of material.
Corridor and Solar Plates module.
Last compositing was done in photoshop by burning highlight and sharping tool.
